Chanute Public Schools

School is canceled in Chanute Public Schools on Wednesday, February 19th. All schools, services, and related activities, including athletics, are canceled for the day. Everyone stay safe.

First off, we had 32 NCCC Baseball Players and 20 NCCC Girls Soccer Players come help run the meet by judging and working tables. Thank you very much for your help. Chanute Hosted the meet and had 179 lifters attend with 17 different schools being represented. Men’s Division 132Lb Class Nathan Studebaker finished 2 nd in bench, 1 st in Clean and 3 rd overall 148Lb Class David Barentine attended his first ever meet and finished 11 th overall 156Lb Class Joshua Schoenhofer Stayed in the middle of pack this week finishing 7 th overall 173Lb Class Kemper Manly fought the good fight and finished 5 th overall 181Lb Class Nathan Wilson finished 1 st in Squat and Clean with a 3 rd overall 198Lb Class Clint Cooper attended his first ever meet with an impressive finish of 5 th overall 220Lb Class Garrett Love attended his first meet of the season with a 2 nd in bench, 1 st in clean and 1 st overall Drake Schultz battled his way to an 8 th finish overall 242Lb Class Canton Fitzmaurice put up some MONSTER numbers with Bench-335, Squat-590 and Clean-375Lbs.Fitzmaurice finished 1 st in all event and first overall. Chanute Men’s Division Finished 2 nd Place overall for Teams out of 17 teams Women’s Division 114Lb Class Layney Hillman attended her first ever meet and finished a strong 5 th overall 123Lb Class Brooklyn Espe finished 1 st in bench and clean and 2 nd in squat with a 1 st overall Mavery Herman finished 1 st in squat 2 nd in bench and 3 rd in clean with a 2 nd overall 132Lb Class Mattison Morgan fought her way to a 9 th overall with a field full of competition 140Lb Class Avery Dean finished 1 st in clean and 2 nd in bench and squat with a 1 st overall 156Lb Class Madalee Farmer was able to hang on to a 5 th place overall 215Lb Class Jacelyn Camren held on to a finish of 5 th overall PWT Rhylee Thompson finished 2 nd in bench and 3 rd in clean for a finish of 3 rd overall Chanute Women’s Division finished 3 rd place overall for Teams out of 13 teams

Boys Wrestling hosted Columbus last night for a dual and senior night. Dual Results: Chanute 39 Columbus 41 Sam Hutchinson, Bo Small, Braddox Bancroft, Quinton Harding, Cade Small, Karter Naff, and Brady Alonzo all came up with wins for the Comets! Blue Comet Bowling traveled to Olathe yesterday to compete against Maranatha Academy and St. Thomas Aquinas. Chanute Boys and Girls both walked away with 1st place as a team! Basehor Powerlifting Results Jr. Men's 156 Lb Class Joshua Schoenhofer finished 8th in Bench, 5th in Squat, and 8th in Clean, finishing 6th overall. Men's 242 Lb Class Canton Fitzmaurice finished 2nd in Bench, 1st in Squat, and 1st in Clean. He finished 1st place overall. Women's 123 Lb Class Brooklyn Espe finished 1st in Bench, 5th in Squat, and 9th in Clean. Finishing 3rd overall. Mavery Herman finished 7th in Bench, 7th in Squat, and 10th in Clean. She finished 7th overall. Women's 140 Lb Class Avery Dean finished 7th in Bench, 4th in Squat, and 6th in Clean. She finished 4th overall. 23 schools with 733 lifters attended this meet.

Bowling competed in Lawrence on Thursday against Washington High School, Basehor Linwood, Atchison, and Lawrence High. Boys finished 4th place. Drake Friederich finished 4th place individually. Girls finished in 2nd place. Lovie Cosby finished 2nd place individually. JV Boys finished in 4th place. Shane Shoenhofer finished 3rd individually. JV Girls finished in 4th place.
