Superintendent's advisory council
Ever wanted a voice about the education of students at Chanute High School? Now, there is an avenue to provide a group of students with access to the top, the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kellen Adams.
CHS students are invited to apply for a seat on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council that will begin meeting in December. Students who are selected will talk about academic progress, goal setting, safe and supportive school environment, college and career readiness, along with a variety of other topics pertinent to high school.
To be considered, students must complete an application and write an essay. It can be downloaded from the website, beneath the CHS Parent's tab, or picked up in the CHS office.
The council will meet three times a year, with the first meeting scheduled for Dec. 11, then on Feb. 12 and April 15.
It is expected that students will attend all meetings, prepare for each meeting as needed, work in a collaborative manner with each other and school system staff, and express view and opinions openly, constructively and respectively.
The application should be returned to the CHS office or emailed to Assistant Superintendent Tracy Maring at firstname.lastname@example.org
All applications must be submitted/received by 5 PM Monday, Nov. 25, 2019.
