SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

 

2019 Scholarships are READY! Clicking on the name of the scholarship should open a PDF of the application or information on applying for the scholarship. If you are able, we suggest you downloading the PDF to your computer and then filling out the application and printing it when complete.

 

Unless otherwise stated, all scholarship applications need to be turned in to the Guidance Office by the deadline date.

APPLICATION FORMS:  Most application forms are linked on the title of the scholarship for your convenience, but some scholarship offers may require you to visit and submit online. Check websites for official details.

Students may also pick up printed copies of these application forms from the CHS Guidance Office.

American Legion                                                                                                             

American Legion Riders

  • Amount: $500
  • Criteria: Son/daughter, grandson/daughter, great grandson/daughter, adopted son/daughter, adopted grandson/daughter, step-son/daughter, step-grandson/daughter of members of the American Legion or Honorably Discharged Veteran or active duty personnel, GPA of at least 2.5, ACT score, transcript, 2 letters of reference, 2 short essays
  • Deadline: March 25, 2019

         Sons of the American Legion Educational Scholarship Program

  • Amount: $500
  • Criteria: Son/daughter, grandson/daughter, great grandson/daughter, adopted son/daughter, adopted grandson/daughter, step-son/daughter, step-grandson/daughter of members of the American Legion or Honorably Discharged Veteran or active duty personnel, GPA of at least 2.5, ACT score, transcript, 2 letters of reference, 2 short essays

Ashley Clinic Life Sciences Scholarship Program

  • Amount: $750

Bank of Commerce Scholarship for Achievement and Excellence

  • Amount: $1,000

  • Criteria: Transcript, ACT scores, community involvement, essay

  • Deadline: March 1, 2019

       Bank of Commerce Student Board

  • Amount: $10.00 per Board meeting

  • Criteria: Junior/Senior CHS student, 2.5 or greater GPA, desire to learn about banking, attend meetings

  • Deadline: ASAP, meetings are January through May

Barbara Keller Scholar Award

  • Amount:  varies, possibly renewable
  • Criteria:  Typed application, GPA, ACT, class rank, transcript, 3 references

BBB Student of Integrity Award

Bideau Family Fine Arts Scholarship

  • Amount: To be Determined  

  • Criteria: 3.0 GPA, 3 year participation in Fine Arts (both semesters), extracurricular performances/contests/exhibitions, continuing education in fine arts discipline in college

  • Deadline: March 1, 2019

Carlie Sue Almond Memorial Scholarship

  • Amount: $500  

  • Criteria: 3.0 GPA, leadership, recommendation signatures, transcript, essay

Chanute Area Chamber of Commerce & Office of Tourism Scholarship

  • Amount: $250 

  • Criteria: 3.0 GPA, USD 413 District Resident, attending NCCC full time in the Fall, essay, letter of reference from a non-relative, transcript

Chanute Area Retired School Personnel Scholarship

  • Amount: $700 ($350 per semester)

  • Criteria: desire to enter education field, attend a Kansas college/university, transcript, financial need, computer-generated application with requested fields.

  • Amount: $200

  • Criteria: Ladies only, service/volunteer experience, essay

  • Criteria: 2.5 GPA, CHS Interscholastic Athletic Program or team manager, student trainer or spirit squad member, full time college student

  • Amount: $250

  • Criteria: Mexican descent, active in church, community, activities, & programs, display leadership skills

  • Deadline: March 1, 2019

Chanute Public School Cooks Scholarship

  • Amount: $100

  • Criteria: Financial Need, regular participant in school lunch (not a la cart)

  • Deadline: March 1, 2019

CHS Class of 1988 Scholarship

  • Amount:  $2,000 or (2) $1,000
  • Criteria:  Graduating senior who plans to continue their education at an accredited college, university, trade school, or technical school, typed reply to 6 questions, 3 teacher/administratiion recommendation signatures, transcript. Specific order of submission of papers.
  • Deadline:  March 1, 2019

CHS Music Boosters Band & Vocal Scholarship

  • Amount: $300

  • Criteria: Plan on continuing musical activities after HS, GPA, Class Rank, ACT Score, Extracurricular activities

Coffeyville Community College 2-Year Tuition and Book Scholarship

  • Amount:  Tuition and Books
  • Be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA

Neosho County Farm Bureau Association Scholarship

  • Amount: $250

  • Criteria:  Parent/Guardian is a Farm Bureau member, ACT score, GPA, transcript, principal’s signature, school & community activities, essay

  • Special info: Online fillable PDF preferred (download it to fill it out), print, your signature, parent signature, principal’s signature, attach transcript, mail to office by deadline date.

O’Brate Foundation Regular Scholarship

  • Amount:  $1,000 to $5,000

  • Criteria: Love of music, enrollment in at least 1 music class each college semester, list of music activities, letter of recommendation, paragraph about future plans to continue music involvement

State Farm – Disbrow Agency

  • Amount:  $500 ($250 per semester)
  • Criteria:  Minimum of 12 credit hours per semester, ACT or SAT score, cumulative GPA, class rank, transcript, interview

Stone Creek Men’s Golf Association Scholarship

  • Amount:  $500 (renewable possibilities)
  • Criteria:  Attend a Kansas college or university, does NOT require you to play golf, a list of community service, awards, and extracurricular activities is preferred, but not required. This last may help you stand out over other candidates.
  • Deadline:  March 1, 2019

Thelma Roe Memorial Scholarship for Attendees of Cherry Street   (Personal Letter of Invitation)

  • Amount: $500 ($250 per semester)

  • Criteria: attended Cherry Street regularly for 1 year, full time in college,  2.0 GPA, essay, extracurricular activities, community involvement

Westar Energy/Haines-Weber Scholarship Program

  • Amount:  $3,000, renewable opportunity
  • Criteria:  personal interview/job shadow, ACT of at least 18, minimum GPA of 2.50, volunteer work, seeking degree electric power and distribution/power plant technology/wind energy/industrial technology/other industry-related degrees, see online application for more specific eligibility requirements for specific scholarships
