SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

This page is updated each February to reflect current scholarship opportunities.

Please do not use these applications unless they are up-to-date for the current school year.

 

Unless otherwise stated, all scholarship applications need to be turned in to the Guidance Office by the deadline date.

APPLICATION FORMS:  Most application forms are linked on the title of the scholarship for your convenience, but some scholarship offers may require you to visit and submit online. Check websites for official rules.

Students may also pick up printed copies of these application forms from the CHS Guidance Office.

of at least 5-7 days before you need it.**

 

ABODO Apartments Off-to-College Scholarship

  • Amount:  $500
  • Criteria:  High school senior who will attend an accredited college or university in Fall 2018, essay, photos, follow on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, legal resident, agreement to scholarship rules, online submission
  • Deadline:  August 31, 2018

American Legion                                                                                                             

American Legion Riders

  • Amount: $500
  • Criteria: Son/daughter, grandson/daughter, great grandson/daughter, adopted son/daughter, adopted grandson/daughter, step-son/daughter, step-grandson/daughter of members of the American Legion or Honorably Discharged Veteran or active duty personnel, GPA of at least 2.5, ACT score, transcript, 2 letters of reference, 2 short essays
  • Deadline: March 26, 2018

Paul E. Flaherty Athletic Scholarship

  • Amount: $250 ($125 each semester)

  • Criteria: Athlete, Avg/higher grades, approved community college/university/trade school, official transcript, 3 recommendation letters (one from a former coach), guardian's 1040 tax statement, essay, recent photo

  • Deadline: July 15, 2018

Ashley Clinic Life Sciences Scholarship Program

  • Amount: $750

  • Criteria: 3.0 GPA, Class Rank, ACT Score, Extracurricular Activities, 3 letters of reference

  • Deadline: March 28, 2018

Aspiring Nurse Scholarship

  • Amount:  $1,000
  • Criteria: planning to pursue nursing including LPN/LVN/ADN/BSN, good standing, essay, online submission
  • Deadline:  August 31, 2018

Bank of Commerce Scholarship for Achievement and Excellence

  • Amount: $1,000

  • Criteria: Transcript, ACT scores, community involvement, essay

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

       Bank of Commerce Student Board

  • Amount: $10.00 per Board meeting

  • Criteria: Junior/Senior CHS student, 2.5 or greater GPA, desire to learn about banking, attend meetings

  • Deadline: ASAP, meetings are January through May

Barbara Keller Scholar Award

  • Amount:  varies, possibly renewable
  • Criteria:  Typed application, GPA, ACT, class rank, transcript, 3 references
  • Deadline:  March 31, 2018 to First United Methodist Church (Chanute)

BBB Student of Integrity Award

Bideau Family Fine Arts Scholarship

  • Amount: To be Determined  

  • Criteria: 3.0 GPA, 3 year participation in Fine Arts (both semesters), extracurricular performances/contests/exhibitions, continuing education in fine arts discipline in college

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

Carlie Sue Almond Memorial Scholarship

  • Amount: $500  

  • Criteria: 3.0 GPA, leadership, recommendation signatures, transcript, essay

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

Chanute Area Chamber of Commerce & Office of Tourism Scholarship

  • Amount: $250 

  • Criteria: 3.0 GPA, USD 413 District Resident, Attending NCCC full time in the fall, essay, letter of reference, transcript

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

Chanute Area Retired School Personnel Scholarship

  • Amount: $700 ($350 per semester)

  • Criteria: desire to enter education field, attend a Kansas college/university, transcript, financial need, computer-generated application with requested fields.

Chanute Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship

  • Amount: $200

  • Criteria: Ladies only, service/volunteer experience, essay

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

Chanute Blue Comet Booster Club Scholarship

  • Amount: $500

  • Criteria: 2.5 GPA, CHS Interscholastic Athletic Program or team manager, student trainer or spirit squad member, full time college student

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

Chanute Mexican Fiesta

  • Amount: $250

  • Criteria: Mexican descent, active in church, community, activities, & programs, display leadership skills

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

Chanute Public School Cooks Scholarship

  • Amount: $100

  • Criteria: Financial Need, regular participant in school lunch (not a la cart)

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

CHS Music Boosters Band & Vocal Scholarship

  • Amount: $300

  • Criteria: Plan on continuing musical activities after HS, GPA, Class Rank, ACT Score, Extracurricular activities

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

Commercial Bank of Chanute Scholarship

  • Amount: To Be Determined

  • Criteria: Essay

  • Deadline:  March 1, 2018

Community National Bank - Pittsburg State University Scholarship

  • Amount: $500 ($250 each semester)

  • Criteria: GPA, essay

  • Deadline:  March 17, 2018

Dick Guinotte Memorial Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000

  • Criteria: Financial Need, transcript, high school & community activities, references

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

Divorce Matters Scholarship

  • Amount:  $2,500
  • Criteria:  Personally affected by divorce, electronic transcript, essay, online submission
  • Deadline:  May 31, 2018

First Baptist Church Scholarship

  • Amount: To be determined
  • Criteria: Continue education at a college/university, active within First Baptist Church or affiliations approved by committee, essay
  • Deadline: March 29, 2018

Herbert J. Swender Scholarship

  • Amount: $500

  • Criteria: NCCC, 3.0 GPA, high school athletics, leadership, transcript, recommendation signatures, essay

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

  • Amount:  $500 to $5,000
  • Criteria:  Hispanic heritage, minimum GPA of 3.0, full-time student in the Fall of 2018 at an accredited, not-for-profit 4-year university, U.S. citizen/Permanent legal resident/DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen, completed FAFSA, online submission
  • Deadline:  March 30, 2018

Home Savings Bank Academic Scholarship of Achievement

  • Amount: $1,000

  • Criteria: transcript, ACT scores, essay

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

Jostens Renaissance Scholarship Program

  • Amount:  $2,500 renewable/$1,000 non-renewable
  • Criteria:  Be from a school with a Jostens Renaissance Program, solid academic performance and potential, full-time enrollment in a 2-year or 4-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the Fall, describe how you have participated in impacting your school’s climate using Jostens Renaissance activities and/or resources, online submission, transcript, essay
  • Deadline:  March 15, 2018

Juan L Hidalgo Memorial Scholarship

  • Amount: $500

  • Criteria: Mexican decent, active in church, community, ambitious leader, 2.5 GPA, 2 sealed letters of recommendation, transcript, follow-up letter after Fall semester

  • Criteria:  Full-time fall college student, pursuing Associate of Applied Science degree or certificate in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Repair, good standing with minimum 2.5 GPA or a minimum score of 260 on the GED, transcript, essay, 3 letters of recommendation, School Counselor record verification

Kansas Grain and Feed Scholarship

  • Amount: $500/$1,000/$1,500

  • Criteria: Plans to attend any Kansas 4-year university, community college, or vo-tech school, self-starters, excellent academic credentials, transcript, GPA, class rank, ACT score, 2 reference letters 

  • Deadline: postmarked by 5:00 p.m. February 23, 2018

Kansas Junior Golf Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,500, renewable for 4 years

  • Criteria: Men/Women Golf participation, Kansas accredited college/university, essay, transcript, ACT score, Athletic Director verification, copy of Student Aid Report from the FAFSFA, statement of community service/leadership experiences and accomplishments, 2 letters of recommendation

Kansas Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. Scholarship

  • Criteria:  Do not have to be a member of a Key Club to apply, School Counselor evaluation form, transcript, letter of recommendation

  • Amount: $500 ($250 per semester)

  • Criteria: full time student, leadership qualities, 3.0 GPA, awards/honors, volunteer work, transcript

Kansas Society of CPAs High School Merit Scholarship

Neosho County Farm Bureau Association Scholarship  (Criteria)

  • Amount: $250

  • Criteria:  Parent/Guardian is a Farm Bureau member, ACT score, GPA, transcript, principal’s signature, school & community activities, essay

  • Special info: Online fillable PDF preferred (download it to fill it out), print, your signature, parent signature, principal’s signature, attach transcript, mail to office by deadline date.

  • Deadline: Mailed to Neosho County Farm Bureau Office by March 30, 2018

NMRMC Foundation – Dr. Bob Harwood Memorial Scholarship

  • Amount: $500

  • Criteria: Parent/Guardian is a current employee of NMRMC, 3.0 GPA, class rank, ACT score, course content, letter of reference, essay

  • Deadline: March 9, 2018

Pottroff & Karlin Law Firm Scholarship

  • Amount:  $1,000
  • Criteria:  Minimum GPA of 3.0, official electronic transcript, student aid report showing household income status, recommendation letters and resume are encouraged (electronic), online submission

  • Amount:  $2,500
  • Criteria:  Legal U.S. resident, at least 18 years old, graduating high school senior or current freshman, sophomore, or junior in an accredited university or college, cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above, essay, online submission
  • Deadline:  January 31, 2018

RUDD Foundation Scholarship

  • Amount:  Tuition/fees/books/supplies/room and board (after all other aid and scholarships are applied), renewable for 4-years
  • Criteria:  U.S. citizen, graduating high school in 2018, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, have filled out the FAFSA and qualifies for a PELL Grant, plans to attend Wichita State, Fort Hays State, or Emporia State for Fall 2018 as a full-time student
  • Deadline:  March 11, 2018

St. Cecilia Music Club Scholarship

  • Amount: Varied, renewable for 1 year

  • Criteria: Love of music, enrollment in at least 1 music class each college semester, list of music activities, letter of recommendation, paragraph about future plans to continue music involvement

  • Deadline: March 15, 2018

Thelma Roe Memorial Scholarship for Attendees of Cherry Street   (Personal Letter of Invitation)

  • Amount: $500 ($250 per semester)

  • Criteria: attended Cherry Street regularly for 1 year, full time in college,  2.0 GPA, essay, extracurricular activities, community involvement

  • Deadline: March 1, 2018

Thelma Roe Memorial Scholarship for Volunteers of Cherry Street  (Personal Letter of Invitation)

  • Amount: $500 ($250 per semester)
